The Open Source in Mobile World conference is an interesting venue to know more about the business and technical context of the maemo platform. Nokia is active in this event and invites the maemo community to join it. After the conference we propose the first maemo summit calling to all contributors.

maemo summit
The maemo summit will be held on Friday September 19, also in Berlin.
The entrance is free. Pre-registration is requested in order to plan accordingly.
The program is still open. The basic idea is to have few and well executed session plus plenty of free time and free-form activities.
- Some sessions run by Nokia to get into details about the next steps.
- Some sessions to meet the Nokia developers of the main areas of the platform.
- Some session run by the community at their own initiative.
- Night party
Location, looking for one
Location to be defined. The first option failed, looking for an alternative. Proposals welcome. The idea is to gather 100-150 people in an informal space with good WiFi and basic facilities for talks and workshops, assuming that everybody is carrying own tablet and laptop. A social center, an academic space, a loft, a nuclear bunker... ;) you get the point.
Participants
It's the first maemo summit and it is good to know in advance who plans to attend, to fine tune practicalities and have enough space, connection, drinks, food.
A basic registration process will be started soon. Yes, the entrance is free.
Sponsoring community contributors
Ideally all the good fellows should be in the maemo summit. There is some budget reserved to help key maemo community contributors landing and sleeping in Berlin. Key application developers, platform hackers and community contributors with humble pockets are invited to apply.
