N900 general hardware questions

Is there an internal battery for which would allow hot-swapping the main battery?

Is it a pressure-sensitive touchscreen (MaemoPad+ supports)?

To what extent you can use the N900 with one hand, i.e. portrait mode?

Is it possible to disable/turn off the cellular radio without disabling wifi/bluetooth? Can the cellular radio be turned off completely?

Is the memory card hot-pluggable?

Is a stylus included? Extra stylus?

Does the 3,5 mm AV-connector support stereo headsets that have also a microphone (for example Nokia WH-102)?

Is the N900 going to have dedicated keys for language specific characters (like åäö for us swedes for example?)

Will charging be possible with a "normal" Nokia charger (like this one) in addition to USB charging?

If USB is the only charging option, where will power come from for extended host-mode sessions (longer than battery life)? Y-cable again? Mini Y-cable is widely available, but not micro. Will Nokia supply a micro Y-cable, or are we back to hardware hacking?

Is there a "hole" or something to attach a lanyard (to secure it) ?

Does the video camera zoom while shooting a video?

Can we use FM without plugging in headset, i.e. does it have an internal FM antenna?

N900 audio questions

What are the maximum sampling rates on audio output/input (think xoscope)?

Is it possible to record high-quality (i.e. high bitrate) audio from the built-in microphone?

Could you test the sound with very very good headphone?

Can you check that means no breath in headphones for music?

How does the N900 compare in volume to the N95/N800/N810 speakers when playing online videos from the browser and any youtube app such as digia, canola, mytube etc.?

Will we be able to set the processor governor to performance mode like we could with the OMAP2 in the N8x0 devices?

Will Maemo 5 on N900 support DUN via Bluetooth? http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-n900/specifications#hardware-con says it doesn't.

Is it possible to disable transitions (eye candy)? I believe an app will be available to do this.

How do you pull up a menu?

How do you switch tasks, or close the app?

Can we connect USB or Bluetooth keyboard, gamepad and mouse?

  • From Threads: Yes, as is supported by BlueZ stack.

Is there any system monitor to see in real time the ram, the cpu , etc ... ?

N900 built-in applications questions

Google "VOIP": What is the exact protocol used in the N900?

Support of SIP for VoIP?

What is the video support? How do they relate to the current implementation of Google Talk / Voice&Video Chat? Can you do N900 <-> Desktop?

Is there Jabber/XMPP support like in the old devices (connecting to other servers then the Google or Ovi server)?

Is there support for "normal" Jingle (the technology enabling Voice/Video Chat over Jabber/XMPP) as opposed to the version thereof Google Talk uses?

Calendar could be sync ... but what is the sync feature supported. (Gdata (google calendar), mlsync, ... ) ?

Will the calendar application be open source?

Can the calendar application access remote calendars over caldav?

Possibility to synchronize contacts with WebDAV?

Possibility to have multiple calendars, contacts, task lists and lists of memo?

Possibility synchronize the N900 with his PC (contacts, calendars, tasks and memo) via the USB cable with an Free, Open and Documented protocol?


N900 browser questions

Quality and smoothness on video sites like [Hulu.com], [openflv.com], Do they work in the stock browser?

Can I log on to secure websites and pay bills?

Try shopping with the browser on [amazon.com], does it crash when you add stuff to your basket?

Is it easy to accidentally click a link on the edge of the screen if a webpage is open and you sit it down and then pick it back up?

Does the browser support client-side SSL Certificates?

Will be there support for Nokia WRT or W3C widgets?

Support of "<video>" and "<audio>" tag of HTML5?

Support of plug-ins?

Does the browser support Java applets?

Do we have to wait for it to load completely before we scroll? (try engadget)

Third-party applications questions

In non-Fremantalized apps running full screen, how do you switch back to non-full screen mode, like fbreader? From the video it looks like a keyboard combination?
