Maemo SW is planning to offer the tools for community localization in [[Task:Maemo_roadmap/Harmattan|Harmattan]]. The tools that are being considered are [http://transifex.org/ Transifex] and [https://translations.launchpad.net/ Rosetta]. Currently Transifex looks like more appropriate since it's open source already and specialized in translations. Rosetta will be open source later this year, but seems to be tied to the rest of Launchpad modules.--[[User:qgil|qgil]] 05:03, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

In Harmattan the localizations files will use [http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.6-snapshot/linguist-ts-file-format.html Qt's .ts format]. For community L10n [http://qt.nokia.com/doc/4.6-snapshot/linguist-manual.html Qt Linguist] should already work fine.

Update: We now have a MeeGo L10n roadmap: http://wiki.meego.com/L10N/RoadmapProposal

There was a Localization track during Maemo Barcelona Long Weekend. The result of the workshop was the Community Localization System.

See also the Talk thread: Community translations of Maemo software.

There are a number of pages in the wiki being translated by users.

See also Task:Evaluate Transifex.

In Harmattan the localizations files will use Qt's .ts format. For community L10n Qt Linguist should already work fine.
