The maemo.org Community

Welcome to the maemo.org community!

Wikipedia defines a community of interest as, “a community of people who share a common interest or passion…” That’s what the maemo.org community is all about: passion for Nokia Internet Tablets, passion for open source software, passion for new ideas -- the list goes on and on. Whether you’re a casual tablet user or a dyed-in-the-wool hacker, this is where you will find a collection of these passions -- a community constructed by spaces, events, tools, applications, and a desire to not only witness first-hand, but lend a hand to the future of mobile computing.

Admittedly, the list of community resources below is incomplete (there are just too many to include here). Visit each section to see how you can become connected with the greater maemo.org community. Explore and you will find a number of additional spaces for involvement.

Community Exemplified

A healthy community is owes everything to the activity of it's members. The maemo.org community exemplifies this reality better than any by continuing to be a passionate, self-motivated, and active group of people all interested in advancing Nokia Internet Tablets and the Maemo software platform. Nokia is proud of the maemo.org community and below are a list of community-driven spaces that stand out and deserve to be recognized.

Community Experience

"Community" can be a rather nebulous term until you have a chance to experience the relationships, support, and friendship of other community members. Interestingly, if you are part of a truly authentic community, you will soon realize that you want to contribute to the community. The links below are for people who have reached the point that they desire to add to the efforts of the other community members.

Make a Difference

While being a part of the maemo.org community is important, nothing is quite as critical as helping to make maemo.org, the Maemo software platform, and Internet Tablets better for all users. To assist in this, every community member is asked to offer some time and energy into submitting bug reports and feature requests, and reporting potential security issues.

The Real Winner

Thriving communities are made up of many diverse people who have a common aspiration, common interests, and a willingness to help the community grow and sustain. In the case of maemo.org, the community exists to further develop and improve on a leading-edge hardware and software methodology. The outcome of this effort is quite obvious: a mobile computing device that is powerful and easy to use. Consequently, the winner in this cohesion of minds and spirits is you. Consider joining this effort. Be a part of a community that has a solidified passion for improving on the Nokia Internet Tablet experience.
