The primary plans are to provide software to remotely control/instruct robots and run a simulation environment on the N900. As a side effect, the N900 can become the control unit of a real robot.

I've prepared some documentation for Maemo Support in the form of Maemo Wikis. Though I was the original editor other people have later collaborated, like excellent editor Ryan Abel. These wikis have been many times Wiki Of The Day, due to their interest and easiness of use. My project is to go on making nice documentation for N900 users. My main target is to help complete newbies and business users who aren't technical users at all, but need to exhaust the features of their Maemo devices...

- Cumulus, A soaring flight navigation application. I'm the current developer and maintainer of that project. I need a N900 device for testing the application on this hardware. I'm only an owner of a N810.

- port the SHR Distro to run on the N900. As our beloved Openmoko devices are quite obsolete hardware wise we want to port our OE based Distro to the N900.
- help to make USB Host Mode work out of the box

I am a low-level (kernel, bootloader, hardware) developer coming from an Openmoko background. As my Openmoko Freerunner is my only everyday cell phone, i've had plenty of experience debugging and bugfixing various kinds of software and hardware issues, tinkering with Debian and OE and community assistance.
I would like to have access to an N900 for the following projects:
- USB hostmode is the project to allow N900 to use all kinds of extension devices: from a mass storage flash to a custom made controller equipment. Getting this done right should involve considerable low-level driver fixing and testing. Also needs a working bme replacenment.
- freesmartphone.org is a modern service-based middleware platform for Linux-based embedded systems. It is tailored for simple and uniform access of all features, thus leveraging innovation and keeping you in control. I would like to collaborate with Michael ‘Mickey’ Lauer on getting N900 supported by this middleware as it would open (a standardized) road for the diversity of dialers, contacts apps and any custom usecases one can have in mind.
- fso.el is a humble pet-project of mine, it's an Emacs interface for the most typical GSM telephony-related usecases: calling, text messages, contacts management and everything that makes smartphone usage more productive. It is usable both on device (with touchscreen or hw keyboard) and via ssh (when one has his phone on his desk connected to a PC).

I'm the architect behind the freesmartphone.org middleware project and would like to port this to run on the N900. It already runs on OpenEZX devices, OpenMoko devices, and some of the HTC devices, however those are getting obsolete very rapidly. FSO on the N900 would be a great opportunity for our future phone stack development and for renewed interest in the hardware itself.

We, the combination of the FSO project (freesmartphone.org) and the SHR
project (shr-project.org) are developing a distro, including our own
middleware for handling system resources and our own phone UI on top of that
middleware - up to now for Openmoko devices. We're looking for a new platform
to develop for, as the Openmoko devices are obsolete hardwarewise and also
obsolete in number of distributed devices.
Coming from the background of the Openmoko community, we are looking for a
platform as open as possible - and we think N900 is the best fit available
nowadays.
We would like to kindly ask, if it would be possible to get developer
devices for the following developers of us:
