Mer supports python 2.6 by default

There are several extensions for mer/maemo see both the Garage page and the PyMaemo page

python-defaults trunk supports 2.6... worth snapshotting for Mer (6 Jul 09)

pygtk : provides python-gtk2 python-glade2
python-hildon
python-hildondesktop
python-launcher
python-conic
python-osso
pygame
