What Is Tear?
Tear is a WebKit browser. It is currently under heavy development, so expect occasional bugs (including freezes & crashes) and quirks. Track and file bugs here. However, because of Tear's speed, it's becoming a popular option. This document applies to Tear version 0.3.1.
Installing Tear
There are barriers that are currently preventing Tear from being in the official repositories (even extras-devel). Therefore, the easiest way to install Tear right now is using Qole's repository.
Adding Qole's Repository to Application manager
- Go into the Application manager.
- Tap the menu -> Tools -> Application catalog...
- Tap New and enter the following information:
Catalogue Name: Qole Web address: http://qole.org/repository Distribution: maemo Components: main
- Click OK and then Close.
Installing From Qole's Repository
With the Application manager, search for "Tear" and install.
Alternate Installation Method
Installing TearBookmarks Side Panel
TearBookmarks is currently in the Extras-devel repository. The information applies to version 0.3.1-4. See this for information on Extras-devel, including adding the repository to Application manager. Steps to install:
- Go into the Application manager.
- Tap the menu -> Tools -> Application catalog...
- Tap Extras Devel (sp?) and tap Edit.
- Make sure "Disabled" is UNchecked and tap OK and Close.
- Search for "TearBookmarks" and install.
Now you need to get it to appear on the left panel. Steps:
- Go into the Control Panel.
- Tap "Panels".
- You should see an option for "Tear Bookmarks". Uncheck one of the existing options and check "Tear Bookmarks".
- Hit OK and close the Control Panel.
