Maemo Summit 2008/Accommodation
How are you sorting out your accommodation for the Maemo Summit 2008. Share tips and details!
Note that OSiM World and the Maemo Summit are happening in very different and distant parts of the city. The recommended location is in Berlin Mitte, close to the Maemo Summit and, well, in the Mitte of Berlin. :) Public transport in Berlin is excellent anyway.

[edit] Host a Maemo contributor
Some people living in or near berlin (including me :)) could provide accommodation in their residences. I think I have space enough for two people... An other idea would be something like: [2] --jukey 15:24, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Still space for two people ? me and my girlfriend ? We are couchsurfers and are also looking for hosts--anidel 07:14, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Stefan Constantinescu here, Nokia Employee and blogger at IntoMobile, looking to split a hotel room. Please email me at my personal account: devilsrejection[at]gmail[dot]com I am flying in on the 18th and leaving the 21st.
[edit] Cheap accommodation
The location of the summit is here: [3]
The closest hostel to the venue is AO Hostel Mitte (with shared rooms starting at 10€) and the AO Hotel, which is a 2-star hotel sharing the same building and offering single and double rooms from 15€ and 28€. Check also the AO Hostel and Hotel Friedrichshain. It's 5km away but only 3 train stops. A problem here is that they have dynamic prices à la Ryanair and the days of OSiM & Summit seem to be quite booked already. Worth giving a try though, I checked a couple of rooms and were clean and decent. 860 beds in total!--qgil 20:44, 18 July 2008 (UTC) Worth noting is that in AO internet access is 1EUR/20 minutes.bundyo 20:44, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Some colleagues gave me the following tips:
- Die Fabrik (from 18 EUR/person/night - 2,6 km away from the summit place) route from hostel to summit place
- Die Fabrik looks pretty cool, but when I Googled it (according to the address on the OSiM World website), I came up with different directions and route distance (8.2 km). --timsamoff 13:05, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Die Fabrik doesn't have phones and TVs in the rooms, internet is not even mentioned.bundyo 20:45, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- BaxPax Hostel Kreutzberg (from 12 EUR/person/night - 2,4 km away from the summit place) route from hostel to summit place
- Hostel X-berger (from 12 EUR/person/night - 2,8 km from the summit place) route hostel to summit place. Free internet in X-berger.
- Apartment for up to 4 persons (from 79 EUR/appartment - 1km from the summit place) route from hostel to summit place
- Singer109 Hostel, quite close (just across the river), with WiFi in Attic
- Other berlin-mitte locations are listet in wikivoyage (here translated via google translate)
- --jukey 14:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
There is share rooms option in some hostels, what about managing 4-6 people coming from different locations to share a maemo-summit room? --jsmanrique 09:07, 7 Ago 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Affordable hotels
September is very high season in Berlin due to congresses, concerts, the Marathon... At least in the Mitte quarter many hotels of 3 and 4 stars are quite booked. Still, it depends a lot on the exact night you are staying. Be fast!
The closest hotel with rooms available (checked on July 18) is the Luisenhof. Very nice one, old and stylish. If someone wants to share, there were double rooms at 109€ total breakfast included. No Internet, though (but c-base has free wifi and is just in a 2min walk).
People who may want something a bit classier than a hostel (presumably not sponsored by the Maemo Software Team) may be interested in this list of hotels which should be near the venue. For example, Ibis Berlin Mitte has rooms for about 74 EUR/night. --Jaffa 20:11, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Here is an Accor hotels search for hotels near the c-base. The cheapest one is Etap Berlin Potsdamer Platz at 65 EUR/night, Ibis is second at 75 EUR/nigh. The prices are for the whole 5-day stay; if you stay for only 3 days, Ibis is more expensive per night (but the total is still under 375 EUR).
[edit] Pure luxury
If you really need it a hint could be Hotel Palace, the venue of OSiM World.
