Why on earth would anyone do such a horrible thing?
- Doesn't require root access and keeps gnutar out of the $PATH (bad things can happen there). I don't see what's so "horrible" about it, though. It's a perfectly valid setup. Also, please remember to login and sign your comments. :) —GeneralAntilles 12:49, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Be nice to have instructions about installing without reflashing the whole unit. I understand you have to do it from Linux. (DGEC)
SSU breaks this setup?
Updating_the_firmware#Seamless_Software_Update leads me to believe that this setup will be broken if Nokia pushes an update to the initfs, but perhaps I am reading it wrong. Wish there were a solution. Maybe this issue should be mentioned in the main page? --gabkdlly 11:24, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't work with N900
there should be a notice at the top as this is not working with the N900. There is no /dev/mtdblock3 and no /mnt/initfs mount: mounting /dev/mtdblock3 on initfs failed: No such device --janmalte 16:22, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
