The Maemo Community Council will have its next election in October 2012, electing a new council and a Board of Directors for the foundation that will take over Maemo.org. The members will be elected for a 6 month term.

Election Details
The election is choosing transitional institutions in connection with the ending of funding for Maemo.org by NOKIA on 31st of December 2012. In the remaining months of 2012 the Council will keep the same functions as previously. After the transition of the Community to the foundation (still to be established) the Council should be the executive arm of the Board of Directors of said foundation. The exact nature of the Board of Director is currently being established with the by-laws.

Eligibility
The election processes are described in detail at Community Council/Election process.
In order to vote, a community member must have had maemo.org account for over 3 months, (a maemo.org account is NOT a talk.maemo.org account) and have karma of 10 or above. Candidates need to have a karma of 100 or higher. List of potential candidates Karma is earned through a variety of mechanisms, but to earn points for contributions on talk.maemo.org, you need to link talk.maemo.org account with maemo.org profile.
