Missed applications

Users can list here applications that are missing and important for them. This will help prioritizing the packages they depend upon.

Power users and developers can help finding out what are the problematic packages and listing them in the main page.

Packages to be defined

List here your missed application if you don't know about packages and dependencies.

  • Apache (httpd)
  • Audio Tag Tool
  • BattleGweled (chinook version works perfectly. Add the chinook extras repo)
  • becomeroot (old build works, just needs someone to place in extras)
    • rootfs available and seems to replace become root
  • btscanner
  • Comix
  • contactinfos (not sure if it was in extras but goes with Phonelink and gpe)
  • Free42 HP
  • file
  • FuelPad
  • fuse
  • gnumeric (there is a thread on ITT about gnumeric working on Diablo now)
  • HomeCPUSpeed
  • HomeDiskFree
  • HomeIP
  • HomeMemFree
  • HomeNetStat
  • KeepassX (beats the heck out of pwsafe since database can be read on any other Keepass supported platform also)
  • Labyrinth
  • Maemo Mapper
  • Maemo-pan
  • Mediabox
  • Mogg
  • ncat - fwiw netcat is available in the tools repository.
    • netcat is now available in extras-devel
      • mmm why have it in extras-devel if it's officially supported by Nokia in tools? --qgil 03:23, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
        • netscat is in the tools repository below, just installed it from there
        • Because the tools repo isn't advertised for end-users, seemed to be focused on SDK usage, repo proliferation is bad and because I didn't check. --Jaffa 22:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
  • nmap
  • ntp - fwiw openntpd is available in extras.
  • ogg-support
  • OLSR - Mesh routing for N8x0
  • OpenVPN
  • osso-statusbar-clock
  • PasswordSafe v 1.3
  • perl modules
  • Perl bindings for GNOME libxml2 and libxslt libraries (libxml-libxml-perl and libxml-libxslt-perl)
  • Pidgin and pidgin-otr
  • Quiver
  • rDesktop
  • Ruby Gems
  • scapy
  • Scummvm (chinook version works perfectly. Add the chinook extras repo)
  • socat
  • sox (from debian.org, buildpackage doesn't like scratchbox and fails configure tests trying to link routines in working libraries, but the ordinary ./configure in scratchbox armel works, supports ogg and mp3 play)
  • sqlite3-ruby
  • Subversion
  • USB Control (note that this is NOT the same thing as maemo-control-usb, maemo-control-usb only allows USB networking and does not work with keyboards or flash drives)
  • Vnc (client and server)
  • Wizard-mounter
  • Xournal (chinook version works perfectly. Add the chinook extras repo)

Packages defined

Move here the applications listed above once the corresponding packages and dependencies have been defined in the main page.

  • Python runtime
  • Python 2.5.1 - but this is a package already, not an app? Should we move it to the main page?
Yes, and it's available in extras yet. Moving to the main page. --yerga 12:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Fixed!

Move here the applications that now can be downloaded and installed from Diablo extras.

Apps available in OS2008

If you are running Maemo 4.1 you have them already in your device.

  • ping

Apps available in the tools repository

  • tcpdump
  • telnet -FWIW, I enabled tools repository but I do not see an entry for telnet. David Smoot
  • traceroute
  • wget
  • wireless tools
  • nano

Apps that weren't in extras before

Please contact the developers to have them available in Diablo extras. Now we are concentrating in making work what works in Chinook extras.

Erming never was in the repository but I am going to work with the new erminig developer to upload it to the extras repository.--yerga 16:38, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
It's in diablo extras now. --yerga 12:27, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
  • XChat (Irc)
The XChat build for Chinook never actually made it into a repository. There's a deb available here, but I don't think the sources are readily available. Somebody might consider emailing skyhusker to ask about it, or perhaps we could get some new blood to pick it up moving forward since it seems pretty stagnant right now. —GeneralAntilles 01:04, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Now uploaded to chinook and diablo extras-devel, although it's annoying to have many tiny xchat-locale-$XX packages cluttering the app list. Help would be appreciated. --mgedmin 23:56, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
This is beta software provided by Nokia. It shouldn't be in extras either.
The packages are in fbreader.org.
See this thread for more information. Extras is under consideration for FBReader. —GeneralAntilles 06:42, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
The packages are in it's own repository which works with Diablo.
  • aircrack (mulliner.org)
  • btaudit (mulliner.org)
  • dsniff (mulliner.org)
  • ipHome (mulliner.org)
  • joe (elkins.org)
  • ncftp (elkins.org)
  • osso-statusbar-cpu (tschmidt)(available?)
  • p0f (debfarm)
  • xkbdbthid (mulliner.org)
  • kismet (Note: 2008-05-R1 has debian build but also silently depends on libgpsbt-dev and libgpsmgr-dev and fails on ncurses if not installed. There may be other dependencies, but a deb package and tgz will build)
  • MaemoFTP
