ITP - Intent To Package

Contents

[edit] What is it?

An ITP is a way to say "I intend to package" a given package for Harmattan / Maemo / MeeGo. By doing this, you lessen the chances that someone else will duplicate your work. It is also a good indicator of what people want packaged, but is not a replacement for RFP - "Request For Packaging." These to methods are way to inform the community of your interest in maemo packaging.

[edit] How does it work?

You fill in the ITP form and that gets posted to a database. Once the form is filled out, you'll get an id number of your ITP request. This id number goes in your changelog in your package and will be used to update the database once your package is in the maemo repositories.

[edit] Who can file an ITP?

Anyone is free to file an ITP. But if your ITP has been left to languish for more than two weeks, it may be completed by someone else.
