On May 25, 2005, Nokia announced the first Internet Tablet, the 770, at LinuxWorld Summit. It became available to consumers on November 3rd, 2005. It came with the first version of Maemo (OS2005) preinstalled, although it was possible to upgrade to OS2006, released in January 2007, with a firmware update.
