[edit] maemo.org Community

[edit] Fast Server

  • When might we expect the server upgrades to maemo.org to take place?
Niels knows surely better than me. The connection with the cache network was finally fixed, being the proofpoint the Diablo release.--qgil 21:43, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Defining Maemo

  • The trademark and branding for Maemo seems to have been rather heavily revamped the way the Maemo trademark is used, when might we expect a more official announcement from Nokia about this change up?
I don't expect announcements but actions. New usage of the term in online communications, presentation materials... When it comes to official products (e.g. nokia.com pages, sales boxes) it will take longer. In the Fremantle release everything needs to be in place.--qgil 21:49, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
  • When are we likely to see visible changes in Nokia's usage?
OSiM & Maemo Summit.--qgil 21:49, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
  • How dependent is this on the maemo.org logo contest being completed and getting the maemo.org trademark changes underway?
Of course we won't touch a thing before having a new maemo.org logo. The new Maemo trademark will take a bit longer though. It involves legal review, management approval and other stuff dependant on people that like to have holidays in Summer. ;) --qgil 21:49, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Will this result in a new Maemo logo from Nokia?
There are no plans for a Maemo logo from Nokia. "Maemo" will be used by Nokia written with regular Nokia fonts.--qgil 21:49, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Extras

  • Diablo Extras
    • autobuilder
    • Moving over existing Chinook stuff

[edit] Diablo

[edit] SSU

  • Can Nokia make any comments on how they plan to use SSU?
Yes: don't expect to see new packages every day. The plan is to do slow but solid steps from the current full release setting to more agile and focused small releases.--qgil 21:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Will we see more frequent updates?
  • Will we see updates to individual packages?
(Amswer to both points) Probably yes, but we really don't want to awake big expectations, and specially not to an audience used to daily updates coming from their Linux distro of choice in their PC/laptop. However, bugfixes to issues like the SDHC corruption card can be pushed now really faster and with really less hassle for end users.--qgil 21:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Related, are there any plans in place yet for handling the new versioning in Bugzilla if package updates are decoupled from the major Maemo point releases?
I don't see a big issue in version numbering. Partial upgrades to 4.1 can be tagged as e.g. "4.1+" or something. Debian or Ubuntu don't change the version number between major releases even if they upgrade apps, middleware packages and even kernel images.--qgil 21:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] GPS

  • An AGPS beta was released to go with Diablo, but a lot of users are unclear on where to get it, how to use it and how it works, might Nokia provide some documentation for the agps-ui to make its usage and capabilities clearer?
Just wait a bit.--qgil 21:58, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
